The Tankini Is The Ideal Swimsuit For Today’s Women
Are you the type of person who prefers more coverage than offered by the ever popular bikini? Would you like a swimsuit that has the convenience of a two piece and the modesty of a one piece? Consider the tankinis.
The tankini was initially designed about a decade ago by swimwear designer Anne Cole. She started her career in the company her father created. But in the 1980s Anne Cole launched her own line of swimwear, called “Anne Cole Collection”.After 10 years she created a new style which matched bikini bottoms with tank tops. With that innovative difference the tankini was born. Within two years, almost every swimwear designer was selling the tankini in their line of swimwear. In no time tankini sales were a major part of the swimwear market.
In addition to tankinis other combinations of swimwear became popular. Skirtinis are the combination of tank tops and a skirted bottom. The camikini, has a thin lingerie strap, and the bandini has a the bandeau strapless top. By combining two types of swimwear, there is no end to the possibilities of combinations.
So who are wearing tankinis? Tankini are being worn by girls and women who are seeking more covering potential than classical swimsuits. Tankinis are also worn by pregnant women, larger women and women who are actively involved in water athletics such as volleyball and don’t want to think their swimsuit while enjoying their sport.
Tankini tops and bottoms also available as separates. Women may combine printed tops with solid bottoms allowing women to mix and match in a way not possible with one piece swimwear. As the population grows older we should see tankinis become even more popular and perhaps even become a dominating force in the market for swimwear for women.
